Businesses have a vital role to playing partnering with schools to raise ambition and inspire improve performance. By providing young people with work experience and becoming involved with careers guidance, employers can highlight the value of the skills and knowledge developed at school to raise students' career opportunities.

Research studies suggest that young people particularly value information on jobs and careers when obtained in a real workplace and through contacts with working people.

There are a number of ways in which you can help our students:

  • Career breakfast morning - visit Oakmoor School to speak to a small group of our students who are interested in your field. This would involve a relaxed conversation about your job, sharing experiences and offering students a short Q&A opportunity.
  • Classroom visit - join a class at the start of a lesson and chat to the students about how the sect relates to the working world.
  • Assembly - present to a whole year group about your career, all the potential job roles within it and pathways into it.
  • Site visit - offer an opportunity to let our students visit your organisation and see how it works first hand.
  • Work experience - introduce students in Year 10 (14/15 years old) to working life within your organisation. (1 week in the summer term)

If you would like to be involved with the careers programme at Oakmoor School or know someone at your workplace who could be of any assistance, please contact Mr R Riley.
