Peter Hurst - Chair of Local Governing Body  

Peter has worked in education for over 40 years. Nearly 40 years of this was based in secondary schools. He mainly taught Mathematics and taught Computer Studies, Information Technology, Religious Studies, English, Technical Drawing and PE. He was the Head of Mathematics and ICT in two secondary schools before moving on to become Assistant Headteacher. In his post as Assistant Headteacher he had the opportunity to take on several responsibilities including safeguarding, performance management, staff professional development, assessment, target setting, timetabling and off-site activities.

Peter retired from teaching and then worked part-time for a further 10 years at the University of Chichester within Initial Teacher Education, supporting new teachers joining the profession and lecturing. He also gave support to teachers for the University of Chichester Academy Trust.

Peter has more than 15 years experience as a school governor. This has been in both primary and secondary education.

Peter has enjoyed a range of volunteering opportunities in his retirement. This includes the Para-Olympic Games, the World Athletics, the World Para-Athletics, the Americas Cup, a Park Ranger, being a member of a Corona Virus Community Support Group and being a Parish Councillor.

He believes in lifelong education for all.

Mr Wright - Headteacher

 

Mike Gaston

Mike has over 25 years experience in both Further and Higher Education. He is presently Principal and Chief Executive of Havant and South Downs College having led both Havant Sixth Form College and South Downs College to a merger in August 2017.

Mike is a leader who is passionate about education and creativity. As a founding leadership fellow at St Georges House, Windsor, Mike has a particular interest in leadership and also works as an executive coach to challenge and facilitate leaders in their own development.

Having trained both as a Fine Artist and in Business Administration, Mike ensures a creative means to problem solving. He believes it is a privilege to serve as a governor at Oakmoor School. He also serves as a co opted governor to an additional secondary school and as a trustee of a Single Trust Academy.

James Child

James has had a variety of roles in construction and property companies in the UK and overseas. He is currently leading the regeneration of the Price Phillip Barracks in Whitehill and Bordon delivering a new town centre, housing, new schools and new community spaces. James is delighted to be a governor of Oakmoor School and to be involved in shaping its future. His work has focussed on large regeneration projects where community building is vital for their success. To quote James, "Schools are at the heart of these projects and are pivitol in shaping them".

Patrick Wake

Patrick has been the Group Director of Information Security at FDM Group for the last 8 years, having previously served in the Armed Forces.  

Responsible for the overall security strategy across FDM Group, and with over a decade of experience in Information Security, Patrick has experience working across areas related to a wide range of technology, governance and leadership positions. 

Born and raised in Bordon, Patrick is keen to give back to the community by sharing the knowledge and experience he has gathered from his work alongside a diverse range of industry sectors.  Patrick provides support to multiple organisations, aiming to help the next generation safely use technology in education, as well in their everyday lives. 

As a lifelong learner Patrick is currently studying a part-time PhD in Computer Science at Durham University. 

 

Paul Abbott

Paul is an experienced company director in the Private Sector with a demonstrated history of working in the Civil Engineering industry and Highways VRS sector over the past 25 years. Paul’s experience is based in Concrete Anchor Technology with responsibility for Technical assessments and recommendations, Sales, Quality Management, HR, Supplier& Quality Management, Accounts, Corporate Governance and Compliance as well as Training Delivery. Paul has a strong professional background with a BA (Hons) focused in Business & Management Economics from Oxford Brookes University (1998).
